Local Groups Win with ACHA

Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) has been able to support local registered charities over the past year through its community action fund.

Sixteen organisations across Argyll and Bute have benefited through the fund and received financial assistance of up to £500 for interesting and varied projects which have a housing connection or a connection to the aims and objectives of the Association.

One group who profited from the community action fund was Hope Kitchen, Oban who received help with a major refurbishment when they moved to new premises in the town.

Lorraine MacCormick from Hope Kitchen, Oban told us the award they received from ACHA really helped with their refurbishment. She said

"We have a lovely new project thanks in part to ACHA's assistance and we opened our doors last June. Since our opening visitor numbers have doubled and everyone is impressed by what a welcoming, bright, well designed space we have created. We share the same values as ACHA of putting people first and, by supporting us, ACHA have enabled us to welcome many more of the local community into New Hope Kitchen."

Ian McIntyre, Chair of ACHA's Oban, Lorn and the Isles Area Committee, commented

"The local area committee is always willing to consider these kind of grants. To be able to give this grant to such a valuable asset as Hope Kitchen gives me great pleasure. Thank you Hope Kitchen, so pleased that Hope Kitchen is proving to be a success."

Applications from registered charities are very welcome and more information on ACHA's community action fund can be found at https://www.acha.co.uk/services-community-action-fund/ or telephone 01546 605922 to have an application form sent out to you.
