Retirement Housing

ACHA offer 3 retirement complexes within Argyll and Bute. Retirement housing is best suited for those who wish to live independently within a friendly and active community.

What to expect

Our sheltered housing tenants have the following benefits:

Wellbeing Assistance
There are staff available every day who can provide support and ensure your wellbeing is cared for. Staff can also liaise with family members and other agencies on your behalf. More information on which housing has these facilities can be found in our housing options leaflet.

Security and Communal Facilities
Our properties have a secure entry system, with many of them also having communal areas including a laundry room, and guest rooms that visitors can book to stay in. More information on which housing has these facilities can be found in our housing options leaflet.

A Community Around You
Activities are often arranged for tenants to socialise in communal lounges or nearby. Fortnightly coffee mornings, monthly lunches, and neighbours who look out for each other.

What Sheltered Housing Doesn’t Include

Retirement housing is not a care home, and it is important to understand what our service does and does not cover before you apply.

Our Wellbeing Assistants are not able to:

  • provide personal care, make meals, or collect shopping or prescriptions
  • administer medications or provide medical care
  • assist with door entry: all properties have a key safe outside
  • manage your personal finances

If you need support in any of these areas, we will do our best to point you in the right direction. We can signpost you to other agencies who can help, and ACHA’s Welfare Rights Service is available to carry out a free benefit check if finances are a concern.

Service charges may apply. For details of this, or if you require more information, please contact us on 0800 028 2755 or email achacustomerservicecentre@acha.co.uk
