Acha Go on Site at Victoria Park

Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) have just gone on site with 5 three bedroom family homes in Victoria Park in Dunoon.

The development on ACHA owned land will be built by M&K MacLeod of Lochgilphead. The onsite work will take around a year with an anticipated handover in the Spring of 2017.

Drug Dealers Not Tolerated

ACHA’s policy of zero tolerance against tenants, their families, friends and visitors who use it’s housing stock for immoral or illegal purposes was again tested when an order was granted to recover a property from a tenant recently.

The tenant, who lived in a property close to the town centre, was convicted of a drugs related offence at Dunoon Sheriff Court.

£1.2 Million for Tenants

The Welfare Rights Information Project, a partnership run by Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) with the help of Bute Advice Centre for the benefit of ACHA tenants has passed a major milestone. The project has generated more than £1.2 million since it began in May.

The welfare rights team has been working with tenants who needed assistance with existing claims or in other cases have started claims from scratch. Almost £400,000 of the total was related to housing benefit, greatly assisting tenants to remain in their homes. The project was funded by the Scottish Government to the level of £200,000, with further assistance from ACHA and Argyll and Bute Council.
