Argyll and Bute MP visits local job club in Helensburgh
Brendan O’Hara, SNP MP for Argyll and Bute kindly dropped by the job club run by the Adult Learning Team from Argyll & Bute Council held within The Kirkmichael Centre on Thursday mornings 10 - 12.
Jackie Gibb and Dawn Archard are on hand to offer one to one support to clients who are supported with IT skills and CV writing. These classes are drop in and informal. A class is run on Thursday afternoons in Roseneath library from 2 – 4pm. Another is run within Helensburgh library on Tuesday afternoons 2 -4pm. All are welcome, no need to book, just turn up. The Thursday morning class even offers tea & toast!
Jacqui Stachan, Welfare Rights Officer employed by Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) is available to assist ACHA tenants with benefit issues. Jacqui commented
“Clients using the job club quite often need help with issues relating to Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit. ACHA’s Welfare Rights Service, which is Scottish Government funded until March 2016, can provide valuable and practical assistance to tenants.”
Brendan stated that “he was delighted to have been invited and see at first hand the support available to jobseekers within the local community.”
