ACHA Names Garden in Bloom Winners

After a summer of very challenging weather for gardeners and everyone else, Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) has judged this year’s ‘Garden in Bloom’ competition.

The competition began in 2010 and has always proved successful with entries received throughout the Mid Argyll & Kintyre area. Previously, prize winners received a vase along with their garden voucher, but for the first time this year, winners have been presented with a handsome trophy as recognition of their hard work and commitment. The names of new and previous winners will also be displayed in local area offices as a permanent record of all the winners of the competition.

In addition, ACHA welcomed entries for the largest grown sunflower from all Pre-5 nurseries throughout the area. This year’s winner was Brooke Davies from Dalintober Pre-5 Unit. Caroline Armour, Head Teacher commented, “we are delighted that Brooke’s flower grew to such great lengths that she was the competition winner, due to her paying lots of care and attention to it over the summer. Well done Brooke.”

Yvonne Angus, ACHA’s Regional Manager commented, “We were overwhelmed by the response to this year’s ‘Garden In Bloom’ and sunflower competition. As always, we are delighted to involve the children in our communities and are thrilled with the growing success of the competition. Congratulations to everyone that participated, especially Brooke for growing her sunflower to an impressive 198cm!”
