A83 Lochgilphead to reopen later today 24/12/2025

Work to secure a dangerous fire damaged building in Lochnell Street, Lochgilphead has been completed, allowing the road to reopen under traffic signal control.

Argyll Community Housing Association, its contractors, BEAR Scotland and Argyll and Bute Council have been working hard to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible to get the road re-opened.  The diversion in place via Lorne Street, Union Street and Manse Brae will be removed around 1.00pm on Wednesday 24th December 2025 and traffic will be able to travel through Lochnell Street with traffic signals in place.  A temporary footway will also be in place.

Unfortunately, residents from the damaged building will not be able to return to their homes before Christmas and they continue to be supported by Argyll Community Housing Association, their families, the wider community and local agencies.
