Argyll Community Housing Association recently strengthened its commitment to involving tenants in all that it does in the newly updated Tenant Participation Strategy.

ACHA 10 Years On
Argyll Community Housing Association is 10 years old on the 21st November. On the 21st November 2006 the Association was formally registered and took over ownership of just over 5,000 affordable homes from Argyll and Bute Council as part of the then Scottish Government’s Community Ownership Programme. Argyll and Bute tenants had voted the previous year to transfer to ACHA with a vote of 89.6% in favour.
Over the 10 years since 2006 ACHA has modernised its homes to meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard with an investment programme of over £120million. Since 2009 the Association has been an active provider of new build housing having built over 300 new homes with plans to build up to another 220 in the next 4 years.
ACHA Builds 10 New Homes by the Sea
Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) has just completed 10 new family homes next to the sea at Bowmore on the island of Islay. The development has been called Ceol a Chuain in Gaelic, which translates into Ocean Music in English.
The 10 new homes for affordable rent are a mixture of family homes of different sizes and adds to the 20 completed by ACHA on the same site in 2014. The housing has been built by M & K MacLeod of Lochgilphead. The official opening was carried out by Councillor Robin Currie, the Housing Convenor of Argyll and Bute Council and an Islay resident.
ACHA Completes 10 More Homes in Connel
Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) has just completed 10 new homes in Connel near Oban.
The development provides a mixture of family homes for rent and will be names after the late Harry Powell, who passed away this year and was a stalwart of the local community, giving over 50 years voluntary service to the village. Harry’s selection came from the local children at the Achaleven Primary School in the village in recognition of his work for the community.
ACHA Wants Tenant Input
Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) is pleased to report that a short tenant satisfaction survey will be carried out during November.
A sample of ACHA tenants from across Argyll and Bute will be telephoned by staff and asked to contribute to the satisfaction survey. The questions will be focussed around key services and the results will be reported to tenants and also to the Scottish Housing Regulator.
