ACHA’s kitchens and bathrooms on show for tenants
Mobile display hits the road

With formal consultation on housing transfer plans now well underway, Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) staff are about to hit the road with the ACHA transfer trailer and will be coming soon to a venue near you.

The specially commissioned trailer will be travelling the length and breadth of Arygll and Bute over the next six weeks, showing tenants what they can expect from ACHA should they vote for transfer in the upcoming ballot.

The transfer trailer will begin its marathon journey on Monday October 24 in the Oban and Lorn area. Over the coming weeks the trailer will visit a further 50 venues, allowing tenants to see examples of the types of kitchens, bathrooms and heating systems that will be made available by transfer funding.

As well as examples of kitchens, bathrooms and heating systems the transfer trailer also contains further information on ACHA’s investment plans and wider background information about the transfer. In addition tenants who visit will be able to pick up their free copy of the Tenant Fast Facts booklet, a quick and easy guide to what transfer is all about.

Norman Beaton, ACHA Chairman, commented, “We believe it is extremely important to show tenants exactly what home improvements they can expect from ACHA following transfer and we are also aware that not all tenants are able to come to see us. That’s why we decided that a mobile roadshow would be the solution, to give as many tenants as possible the opportunity to see examples of the kitchens, bathrooms and heating systems for themselves.

“Getting around so many communities in such a short time is a huge task, but one that we’re relishing. Tenants have received plenty of paper information but this is a fantastic opportunity for them to get a real idea of what we’re talking about and for this reason I would urge as many tenants as possible to come along.

The trailer roadshow will continue for the duration of Stage 1 consultation and right up to the start of the independent postal ballot, expected to begin on 23 November.  Transfer will only take place if the majority of tenants who vote, say ‘yes’.

Every tenant will be sent a letter inviting them to see the trailer in their area.  However, if you should wish any further information please do not hesitate to call the ACHA freephone number, 0800 028755.
