Investment & Regeneration

Director: Linda Haig

Linda Haig, Director of Investment and RegenerationThe role of the Director of Investment & Regeneration is to provide expert services to colleagues in the Housing and Neighbourhood Services (HNS) to ensure the delivery of the Association’s investment programme.

The Director will ensure that the Association plays a central role in the physical and community regeneration of communities throughout Argyll.

As a member of the Association’s Management Team, the Director will play a key role in advising and supporting the Management Committee to formulate policies and plans for the future development of the Association.

The Investment programme for the next year will be our first priority after the transfer. At the moment, tender documents are being prepared to ensure that we have contractors in place in January 2007 to start the main items of work. The installation of new kitchens and bathrooms in the first six years of transfer will be one of our top priorities. All homes will have full central heating within eight years and there will be an ongoing programme of door and window replacement and repairs to the external fabric of the buildings. Our key task will be to identify the properties that are most in need of this type of work. Once our plans are clearer, we will be able to let tenants know when in the overall programme of work they can expect to be included.

On the regeneration side, we have plans to build new homes in all areas where there is significant housing need and where we can identify suitable housing sites. We are working with Communities Scotland and Argyll and Bute Council to make these plans come to fruition.

ACHA wants to help the wider communities as well as providing better homes and we are already developing proposals to assist with new community facilities communities in Soroba in Oban and in Campbeltown.
