IT Trainee, Lochgilphead
35 hours per week
Salary grade 8 (£10,805 - £12,004 )
The Association is seeking to recruit a trainee interested in working in the IT Industry. This post will provide the trainee with “hands on” experience in our IT section along with an HNC in Computing, to be gained over a 3 year period through Argyll College. Applicants need to meet the entry requirement for the HNC course of 2 Highers (minimum of C pass), one of which must be English.
The duties include providing support in the operation of IT applications and equipment, maintaining an inventory of our IT Assets, ordering of IT consumables and mobile phones. It will also involve travelling throughout Argyll and Bute but a driving licence is not essential.
The post-holder will have regular contact with internal customers and external suppliers so a commitment to customer service delivery is highly desirable.
Job Description
REPORTS TO: IT MANAGER
RESPONSIBLE FOR: NO OTHER STAFF
JOB PURPOSE
To provide assistance with the delivery of the Associations IT Applications and Equipment.
MAIN OBJECTIVES OF POST
To assist and support the IT Manager and IT Officer, ensuring the effective delivery of a high quality IT support service to the Association. The post holder will also gain an HNC in Computing.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
IT Services
To respond to day to day requests for IT support from the Association’s area offices and corporate teams
To monitor technical problems and provide information and reports on these to assist with the development of the Association’s IT systems using the call logging system
To maintain records on the Association’s software and licenses
To maintain an inventory of the Association’s IT hardware, and develop with support from the IT Team, a strategy for regularly updating/improving this including asset labeling on all IT Equipment
To act as the contact point for the purchase and distribution of all mobile phones and to monitor call usage
To act as the contact point for the purchase and distribution of all IT related consumables across the Association.
To provide reports for management and performance recording
Arrange for the disposal of all IT Equipment and Consumables in line with the WEEE Regulations
General
To comply with the Association's code of conduct and professional standards by behaving in a professional manner at all times
To ensure all statutory and Association regulations are followed, including Health & Safety, in order to protect customers, employees and the business interests of the Association
